Our Students - Community Events

Students from The Assumption School participate in many community events such as the ANZAC Day march, visits to aged care facilities, Bathurst Eisteddfod, Parish masses, Annointing masses, the Edgell Jog, Great Southern Rail, the annual Diocesan Christmas art exhibition, Autumn colours competition, and other activities.

Each year the Bathurst Eisteddfod is held during term 3.  All students in their year group enter the poetry section, and respresentative choirs, musicians, dance groups and drama groups enter other sections of the Eisteddfod.  It is a wonderful opportunity for students to practise performing on stage and instils in them confidence and interest in public performance.

Interested students are invited to represent The Assumption School in the annual Kids' Lit Quiz. The quiz, which promotes reading, is part of an international competition run as 10 rounds of 10 questions with every question related to books and literature.  Our teacher librarian, Mrs Maria Arrow, organises the students for the competition and believes that it is a great opportunity to represent the school and meet authors and illustrators who attend competition days.

In 2014 two of our Year 6 students were selected to receive an award for the Diocesan Christmas Art Exhibition.  Our winning artists were Max Martinez and Ethan Cusick whose paintings appear below.
